NCK Mechanical Engineering Project

GALVAMET Ltd. is the project leader of the National Competence Center for Mechanical Engineering (NCKS)

Project Number: TN02000018

Project Duration: January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2028

Abstract: The National Competence Center for Mechanical Engineering (NCKS) focuses on research, development, and innovation activities essential for increasing the competitiveness of the Czech mechanical engineering industry, particularly in the fields of medium and light engineering. NCKS addresses key topics significant for future innovations in machinery and equipment. The strategic research agenda reflects customer and user requirements, as well as economic, environmental, social, and especially technological demands. Emphasis is placed on improving the performance and efficiency of machinery and equipment, reducing energy consumption, automating production processes, saving materials, minimizing environmental impacts, digitizing processes, and considering trends in the Industry 4.0 domain.

The National Competence Center for Mechanical Engineering project is co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the National Competence Centers Program. This project is funded through the National Recovery Plan from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Energy Savings at GALVAMET Ltd. II

The project focuses on implementing energy-saving measures through the acquisition of new, more energy-efficient advanced technologies, leading to a reduction in final energy consumption and emissions. The project primarily addresses the high energy demand of certain existing technologies, whose energy consumption corresponds to the time of their acquisition. The operation of these technological units is both energy- and cost-intensive, also considering maintenance and related services.

This project is supported by the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness, Energy Savings V call.

Installation of Photovoltaic Systems at GALVAMET Ltd.

The project involves the installation of photovoltaic systems without storage for self-consumption on the roof of the production facility. The project primarily addresses the diversification of electricity supply for the company’s production technologies, aiming to reduce operating costs associated with electricity consumption of these technologies.

This project is supported by the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness, Energy Savings III call – activity: Photovoltaic systems with/without storage for self-consumption.

Expansion of R&D Laboratory Capacity at GALVAMET

The project focuses on expanding the current laboratory – a research and innovation capacity specializing in setting, evaluating, and verifying parameters of heat treatment and properties of new metallic materials and superalloys for 3D metal printing, mainly for the aerospace and healthcare sectors.

This project is supported by the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness, Potential VIII call.

List of Acquired Assets

GALVAMET: Vacuum Hardening Furnace

The project involves replacing the existing annealing furnace and vacuum hardening furnace with a new vacuum hardening furnace, which will functionally replace both units. The goal is to save electrical energy and reduce emissions.

This project is supported by the Operational Programme Technology and Applications for Competitiveness, Energy Savings Call II.
