Game of Earth

The term "Earth Game" refers to the way of life at GALVAMET that ensures the company’s continuity and human dignity for decades to come. It is a declaration and the unchanging core of our company.
It is time that will judge whether the way of existence of this industrial company should be preserved. Our employees and customers, among others, give us a mark based on our conduct.
The content of the Earth Game is subtitled – GALVAMET Earth Game. It allows us to perceive even a small company as a tribe of several dozen outstanding people who, through their approach to corporate and work life, fulfill the mission of survival and a dignified society.
The Earth Game has been a part of the company’s life since 2010.

The focus on all areas of life, from local and social to the global behavior of nations and states, is supported by years of studying corporate life. We, citizens of the Czech Republic and residents of the Valašsko region, aware of the specifics of the landscape, local patriotism, customs, and traditions, jointly strive for a balance between private and public welfare. The GALVAMET Earth Game is one of many tools to anchor the idea of liberal democracy in the context of the world’s complex demographic development and, ultimately, to survive.
In carrying out its core business, the company focuses not only on its main field – heat treatment of metals – but also, equally, on the concept of collaboration and embracing its mission within human existence, acting as an intermediary between the customer, the machine, and the customer themselves.

It is not easy work to work in a hardening plant. But it is dignified and honorable. The energy of machines, human brains, and arms, combined with energy supplied in measurable units, contributes to the development of the human race in the world. It helps ensure its existence. The processed metal is, without exaggeration, eternal.
In recent years, trends have emerged that stir so-called new passions. Unnecessarily. Because there is nothing new in them. Climate change, zero-emission technologies, the GREEN DEAL, meetings in DAVOS, the Lisbon Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement, whale hunting, butterfly protection, wetlands, polite greetings, and honest work for the one who employs me… Perhaps only the names are new. Few people prefer heaps of slag over a flowery meadow with butterflies.
What is new about it? Perhaps only the loud interest. All of this we here in Valašsko know and have been practically implementing for decades, and we take joy and see results from it. Take a look at our photo from the time when we bought the facility from the former Zbrojovka Vsetín.
When people use the word disruptive today, they imagine a return. A return to improvement or simplification. So at home we make jam, start herb gardens, wear clothes we would have thrown away before, or ride bikes to work. We then use words like IN, cool, or ECO. The people of Valašsko do not need this. Because they are normal.

Even when we must admit that we also cause harm, and when we compensate for our negative impacts on climate change and the environment, we certainly do not want anyone to suffer. As part of the measures to improve or at least not worsen our impact, we are proud to be the first hardening plant in the Czech Republic with a professionally prepared CO2 audit of our company.
Every year, we implement a number of small and several major measures to reduce the growth of our carbon footprint, organizationally, technically, and through investments. These include:

– Replacement of the gas heating system with water-to-water heat pumps that utilize warm water from our technologies to heat domestic hot water, provide space heating, and for showers.

– Gravity-fed extraction of forest water for industrial water softening.

– Collection of rainwater into a large-volume reservoir for subsequent use.

– Compressor systems with frequency converters to save electrical energy.

– Photovoltaic power plant installed in 2013 and newly expanded in 2021 to 246 kWp, saving 4,000 tons of CO2 over its lifetime.

– Investment in the SOLO production line, saving 274 MWh of electricity per year and reducing CO2 emissions by 291 tons annually.

– Investment in TAV vacuum technologies, saving 459 MWh of electricity and 464 tons of CO2 per year.

– Waste is treated as a resource. Used oils, paper, wood, metal, and plastics are recycled. All of these materials have commercial demand.

– Gradual replacement of lighting with energy-efficient solutions is carried out every year as individual work areas are developed.

– New nitrogen production facility, which allowed for reduced purchase volume and truck transport.

Perhaps some would be more interested in how the company and its people perform in the areas of CSR, social responsibility, or standard ECO. One of our presentations onCSR activities 2015may help. In that year, we were awarded by the platform Business for Society as a TOP Responsible Company. We became the winners in the Small and Medium Enterprise category.

Companies showcase their ratings as socially responsible. So, we also need to share our achievements. Twice we were recognized by the platform Business for Society as a TOP Responsible Company, winning first place both times. We were also awarded by the VIA BONA platform, received recognition from the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic, the Mayor of the city of Vsetín, and were named a Responsible Company of the Zlín Region.

A nature trail has been installed around our company for more than ten years. We guide it for visitors, tourists, schools, and also companies during excursions or educational activities. It is about us. And it tells the truth — it contains facts.
We do not want to unnecessarily torment ourselves with the hysteria and panic spread by the media and new mediators of the masses. We follow our own path. Whoever wants to and can has the opportunity to learn something from us. And in the end, how many companies truly think and act this way?
And finally, we add that we will remain true to our way of life. First, we think, and then we act. We are not politicians, so we don’t have to shout into microphones to get someone to vote for us. If we are able to think over time, then we can clearly see that someone or something has improved their approach to the environment. And we also see that an old farmhouse is a jewel in the landscape, not an ugly blot like the new logistics parks. Our hardening plant on the Jasenice stream, in a bird reserve, in the forest, in Wallachia, is such an element.
